Artists in Residency Program

We will be beginning an Artists in Residency Program this year. As part of our kick off event we will be holding a small Circle of Women Gathering to get to know this year's artist.

The 2023 Artist in Residency will be Barbara J. Wisneski. Barbara comes from the federally recognized tribe of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, and is part of the Turtle Clan.

Barbara lives in the Fox Cities and has displayed a number of her various artworks within and around the Fox Cities as well as the Oneida Nation Reservation.

One of her most famous pieces was on display in 2017 at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, located on Airport Road, in Green Bay (near the escalators found just above the Oneida Casino).

The piece was titled "Memories of Grandmother" where it featured a corn husk doll dressed in traditional Oneida regalia.

She also has corn husk dolls that she made, they are part of the teaching tools within the Learning Trunks that she created, and put together when she worked as the Indian Education Program Coordinator for the Appleton Area School District.

Besides her work with corn husk dolls she has an extensive collection of bead work some of her talent on display in the photo above as well.

She has also extended her artistic gifts and has worked with raku pottery, silver work, stone carving, painting, and has dabbled with basketry.
