How is First Nations Outreach, Inc. getting involved in the Fox Cities Area.
Many were saddened by the news that the Neenah-Menasha Intertribal was not going to be held in the fall of 2024.
First Nation Outreach, Inc. was among those who had attended the pow wow that began with an idea by Alan Caldwell, Tribal Member of the Menominee Nation, in 2016. Thanks to Jane Lang (the current Neenah Mayor), and Cathy Caldwell (Alan's Wife) it has been able to continue for the last 6 years.
First Nations Outreach, Inc.'s mission is to build a community, through developing a network that offers educational, cultural, social, and economic programs. The organization strongly felt there was a need to continue carrying out the Caldwell's Legacy of creating the Neenah-Menasha Intertribal Pow Wow.
This pow wow also falls within their organization's foundation of educating, advocating, and investing in our Native Communities for the Next Seven Generations and Beyond. It incorporates the organization's mission of getting together and connecting with other Indigenous Community Members within the Sacred Circle.
The pow wow was created to educate others about the Native American culture and heritage with those who reside in Neenah, Menasha, and other surrounding areas. It shares with others about the long held history of the Menominee and Ho-chunk Tribal Nations, who originate from this area. To this day the descendants of those first nation tribes (whose homelands we currently occupy) are still here.
First Nations Outreach, Inc. loves to share about the 12 Tribal Nations that reside within Wisconsin. They are each unique with their own language, food, customs, and traditions. Please feel free to reach out to learn more about the Menominee, Ho-chunk, Oneida, Stockbridge Munsee of the Mohincan, Potawatomi, Brothertown, and any one of the six Ojibwe Bands: the Bad River, Red Cliff, Lac Courte Oreilles, Lac Du Flambeau, St. Croix, and Sokaogon.
